British Scientist dies in Saudi Arabia base jumping accident

British astronautical engineer and University of Southampton lecturer Dr Angelo Grubisic has tragically died taking part in a base jumping accident The 38-year-old was taking part in a planned base jump in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday when he was killed Dr Grubisic had led a wingsuit design team who worked to design safer wingsuits In a statement following his death, the 38-year-olds family described the professor as “phenomenally talented” and said he “lost his life doing what he loved ” The statement said: “Angelo lost his life doing what he loved the most, wingsuit base jumping, and we want to ensure his achievements and ambitions are known to the world and to celebrate the mark he made on all of our lives “Angelo captivated the hearts and minds of every single person who was privileged to meet and work with him “The saying the candle burns twice as bright burns half as long has never rang more true to the family and friends Angelo had across the world ” In a separate statement, his sister heartbreakingly said: “I can’t even believe I am writing this, but my brother sadly lost his life yesterday doing what he loved “Words cannot even begin to explain the pain we all feel, it still feels like a bad dream and that I’m going to wake up from it “He truly was an amazing guy and brought so so much to this world and had so much more to give “What he achieved in his short life was incredible, and there was nothing he couldn’t do and I mean nothing! “The guy had it all I just wish we had more time with you bro.”
