MORGAN: For over 50 years the Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas has brought sci-fi technology to life. From
self-driving cars to virtual reality, and even the Batwing. FRANKIE: This is Bell’s
vision of our vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. This is the Bell Nexus —
it is a version of a giant drone. There’s two major markets: air-ride shares with
partners like Uber and other investors, as well as moving equipment from
distribution center to distribution center. This is a hybrid electric vehicle. 6,000
pound aircraft. It can hold 800 to a thousand pounds. So initially when we
certify, well it would be a pilot and four passengers, and when it’s fully
autonomous it’ll be five passengers. We’re about to rotate the fans 90
degrees — all six fans will will turn 90 degrees for airplane mode, Range will
be 150 miles at 150 miles per hour. We’ve been a helicopter company for the past
you know 70 years, now transitioning to expand our technology, and here people
you know ask ‘when will this come, when is coming?’ 2025it’ll be out for
commercial market. For Bell this is what the future looks like in expanding our
technologies.
