A GRASS VALLEY PILOT SURVIVED A FIERY PLANE CRASH AFTER HIS HOME BUILT PLANE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PLANE. THE PILOT IS RECOVERING AT THE UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER TONIGHT WHERE HE WAS AIRLIFTED EARLIER TODAY. LEMOR ABRAMS IS LIVE WITH THE LATEST ON HIS CONDITION. Reporter: WELL GUYS, HIS FRIENDS CALL HIM A LUCKY MAN. THIS PILOT ESCAPED THIS FIERY CRASH WITH SECOND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS AND SMOKE INHALATION. HE’S NOW RECOVERING HERE AT UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER. FIREFIGHTERS SAY HE GOT OUT OF THAT PLANE WITH SECONDS TO SPARE. IT IS A DIFFICULT SPOT TO LAND WITH THE WIND SHIFTING AND SITTING UP ON THIS RIDGE. Reporter: THE HOME BUILT PLANE CALLED ZENYTH BURST INTO FLAMES, WITHIN SECONDS, THE COCKPIT TURNED INTO A PILE OF ASH ON THE TARMAC OF THE NEVADA COUNTY AIRCRAFT. TOTALED, BUT THE PILOT IDENTIFIED AS BEN ANTHONY STILL HAS A LIFE. FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVING WITHIN MINUTES TO FIND ANTHONY SUFFERING FROM SECOND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS. YEAH, HE WALKED AWAY.
