How to Do a Hula Hoop Helicopter | Hula Hooping

September 7, 2019

For your helicopter, you’re going to start
with your palms up, pinkies together, with the hoop in front of you. You’re going to let go with one hand, rotate
the hoop so that your wrist is forward, so we’re going from up to forward, and as the
hoop goes around behind you, you’re going to rotate your palm down all the way to where
the hoop is vertical behind your back. So, you can see what that looks like. You can see the hoop is vertical behind me. Let’s go over that first half again. This is just the first half. Palms up, wrists forward, wrists down, and
then my elbow rotates all the way around so that my hoop is vertical behind me. So, then to pass up, my right hand is going
to come in with my thumb up and grab the hoop underneath my left hand Let go with the left, then you’re going to
allow the hoop to continue rotation around, unwinding that right arm, wrist is now facing
forward, wrist up, and now I’m back to the front again. So, slow motion. Wrist up, wrist forward, wrist down, behind
your back, thumbs up, let go, reversing that rotation, wrist back, rotate forward, palms
up. So, continuously, behind your back, and front. Rotate back, rotate front. I’ll do this a couple of times facing the
back so you can see what my hands are doing behind my back, because that’s really the
trick. Obviously, you should reverse the direction
as well. Then, whenever we get that hand passing off
really smooth, then you can smooth out the whole helicopter. It will look really sleek. That’s how you do a hula hoop helicopter.
