How to Regenerate Thumbnails or New Image Sizes in WordPress

August 30, 2019

Hey there and thanks for watching WPBeginner.
Today I’ll show you how to regenerate thumbnails in WordPress. By default, when you upload an image to WordPress,
it will create different sizes of the image and saves them to the uploads folder. Different themes use this functionality to
create different sized images to work with the theme so if you change themes, your images
might looked distorted. To fix this on older images, all you need
to do is install and activate the regenerate thumbnails plugin. Then we’ll go to Tools–>Regen Thumbnails. And click regenerate all thumbnails to create
new images sizes for all your photos. The image size will be based on your current
theme or your settings on the media page. All previous image sizes will still be available. If you only need to regenerate a few images, you
can go to media library and click regenerate thumbnails for a particular photo. I hope you liked this video and found it helpful. If you did, click on the like button below and leave us a comment. 1. I've used Regenerate Thumbnails in the past, and it's very good. Although I never noticed that they could be done individually. thanks for pointing that out

  2. It does'nt help 🙁 how can I full size the <?php the_post_thumbnail(array('1000','300'));?> it shows the result but not responsive, any idea?

  3. It helped me! Awesome it deleted all my old images and regenerated the perfect sized ones. Now if i could only figure out why my Theme stopped generating them in the first place. 🙂
