Iron Man’s REPULSORS Explained!

Built as a source of propulsion and flight
stabilization, Stark Industries patented repulsor technology is the key component that grant
Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits with the ability to achieve sustained flight. Capable of drawing their power directly from
a high-energy source, such as Tony’s Arc Reactor, Repulsors aid both Tony Stark and
S.H.I.E.L.D as a superior form of clean, versatile propulsion, most notably for their ability
to operate without the use of oxygen or a combustible fuel source – allowing the repulsors
to work effectively while submerged in water, or in the vacuum of space. Beyond Tony’s Iron-man suits, he also outfitted
the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier with repulsor technology realizing
first-hand that the craft’s propeller blades were an inferior design, and vulnerability. While the original intent for Repulsors were
purely for the purpose of achieving flight, Tony soon realized that they work effectively
as offensive weapons as well – incorporating them as the primary weapon in his future Iron
Man suits.

  1. I've theorized that repulsors aren't nuclear powered: rather, they break apart atmospheric dinitrogen and combine it with oxygen (numerous high explosives use this combo) to create a highly explosive gas which can be used to propel him along. For weapon effects, I imagine a 'chargeup moment or two would project a high pressure stream outward, then ignite it, causing it to explode at around 20k fps or higher. That would achieve dramatic effect, to be sure.

    I mean the repulsors in the new helicarrier is gigantic af

  3. This is a "what is" video, not a "how" video. So you are still correct in your title but I'm disappointed.
