We’ve got him… No. Gamehunters. How to become a pro. An atomic bomb has gone off. You’ve stayed
in a nuke-proof vault for 25 years. Finally you can go out again. What would you do? This is Fallout 76, the new online
multiplayer action roleplaying game where you must survive
in a post-apocalyptic world. I want to be a professional gamer. In each episode
I get 36 hours to get closer to my target. With this game you can’t make money,
but at least I can show I’ve got talent. That’s why I accept the Fallout Challenge. Kill the Big Three. They aren’t called the Big Three
for nothing. They are all monsters
at minimum level 30 and I start at level 1. The clock starts now. I have been in the Vault for 25 years. Finally I can go outside. This is West-Virginia, recreated. West-Virginia has lots of forest,
apparently. Every gamer experiences this game
in his own way. You can walk around
and explore the world. Play events with other gamers. Or, like me here, kill monsters. And Julian is going to help me with that. You are the expert.
What is your opinion on Fallout? The coolest game. My very first Fallout was Fallout 3. That was my first experience with a large
open world where you can lose yourself. The fact that, leaving the Vault,
you can just go anywhere you want. That was a unique experience
for me at the time. That was the reason
that I fell in love with Fallout. Why can’t you make money
with this game? Because Fallout
is purely about the experience and much less about rivalry.
There are no competing teams so that’s why you can’t be
a pro gamer in Fallout. So I can’t be a pro, but maybe
I can be an expert, with your help. Let’s hope so. Jorn is getting better. Initially he wandered around
like he’d lost it. But he’s doing better and better now,
especially after my tips. Tip 1: Pick up everything you see. As soon as you see a work bench,
tear everything apart. Scrap it. Tip 2: You need to survive.
You’re hungry, you’re thirsty. Spend all the perks you have at the start
on food and drink perks. This way it takes longer before you
get hungry and thirsty. What else should I do? Join public events.
You can find them on the map. When you complete them,
you rapidly earn XP, Experience Points, which makes you level up
more faster, and you get items. The real world. With some real coffee. Delicious. I need it.
I’ve been doing it for 7 hours now. It’s such an awesome game. It is so huge. Initially I didn’t know
where to go or what to do. But with Julian things go a lot better. I think we’re a pretty good team. I’m fully confident
that I’m going to kill all those beasts. But it’s getting a bit tense. I’m still at zero. That’s what you get. A little heart. How sweet.
-You get it back. This may be becoming a bit too much. I think I’m going to call it a day
and leave you alone. But you remain my hot line?
-Definitely. You can always call me. I’ve been gaming for nearly 11 hours now. I think people who like a game like this think it’s awesome to take over
a new character, a new life. To be somebody else. I hadn’t expected it,
but I think it’s cool, too. Did I get him? No. Did I get him or not? Yes, he’s lying there, just like that. There he lies. The Grafton Monster
is killed. I love it. Number 1. Yes. Come on. It’s pretty hard. A cup of coffee. Yes, the Deathclaw. My heart rate is shooting up. No! I broke my knife. Look at that. The second one. The start of Day 2.
I’ve taken a refreshing shower. I thought it was a big world,
but it is humongous. I think I’ve seen about 10 percent. I’ve killed two enemies. Big Three,
the last one, I’m coming for you. Yo, Julian. Hi, Jorn, how are things? I’m doing pretty well. I’ve killed a second monster.
-Are you kidding me? It was a tricky one,
and I had to respawn quite a bit but I pulled it off. Did you expect that? To be honest, no.
So I’m pretty proud of you. I’m moving on. I’m at 2 now.
I only need to do the Scorchbeast. It’s going to be very, very tough
if you go it alone. So please get yourself a team. So come and join me then. I think you’re doing great all by yourself. The face of a loser. I only need to defeat the Scorchbeast. The biggest monster of them all.
I can’t do it alone. So I’ve invited a friend. Please come in. How’s it going?
-Good, how about you? Great. I’m looking forward to this. You are a real Fallout expert, aren’t you? I am absolutely a Fallout expert. Not.
-No, I’ve never played the game. But you’re going to help me?
-Yes, I am. I’m fairly fanatical,
and I guess you can use that quality. But we’re going for the biggest monster
of them all. So this is the boss of all bosses? What is so special about this boss? He can fly, he is super strong,
and when he is hit and he returns he is at full health again. We have two hours left
to beat the big boss. But we’ll get there with your help. What do I get if we succeed? A big hug.
-The whole console. Sounds good to me. Let’s hope Niels is a quick learner. Otherwise we’ll never pull off
the final challenge. Jorn is a helpful guy. He tries to drag me through the game,
but he doesn’t do a very good job. I have to find out for myself. Jorn is a lousy gamer.
He hardly gets it himself. I don’t know what he’s been doing
in the past few hours, days. I like what I’ve seen so far. I love this kind of discovery games. Nice looking game. Caring for plants in this game
is something I’m going to focus on. I don’t think we’re going
to complete the challenge. Because I always play with cheats. Now I’m gaming with Jorn,
which is more of a handicap. Come and sit down. What’s its name?
-Scorchbeast. We’re in his world now. There’s something here. Can you see me? Look up. Aw, come on. We didn’t know that. No. Turns out all those zombies
were lying in ambush in the bushes. The very last attempt. I start shooting right away. It’s over.
But didn’t complete the challenge. Better or worse than you expected? Actually a lot better than I expected. I killed two of them.
Unfortunately not the last one. But it really is an awesome game.
-Really awsome. I feel a bit guilty for not having
the skills to help you out but I’ve enjoyed it a lot. We’ve had a lot of fun.
-We sure did. I’m going to play a bit more at home. Maybe next week
we’ll manage to kill it together. See you next week. It’s 36 hours later now. It’s dark outside. I wanted to become a better gamer
by playing Fallout and I think I succeeded. Too bad
we didn’t complete the final challenge. I’ve only killed two out of the big three. But thanks to Julian’s and Niels’ tips
I have become a better gamer. Awesome. And this game is really nice. Fallout 76, super cool game,
and you can win it. And this mask, too.
Or rather it’s a helmet. The only thing you need to do,
is to answer this question. Which state provides the setting
for Fallout 76?
